How Do You Activate A Verizon Phone Online

How To Get A Droid Phone for Free

Its better than your phone. Get a Motorola(R) Droid(TM).

So, if you want to get a free droid phone you need to carefully read this article to the end.I want to start with a brief introduction about droid phones here. They are basically a line of smartphones based on the Android operating system that is developed by Google. Currently there are two main droid phone manufacturers around the world which are Motorola and HTC. I am sure you have heard about both companies before, as they are very well known worldwide. With all the features and abilities, droid phones are often compared to Apple iPhone and in some cases they are seen as iPhone alternatives.

According to the latest statistics, Motorola and HTC are having a difficulty in distributing droid phones to large audiences as it is really difficult to compete with Apple's iPhone. And that is the point where advertisers with large budgets come into play with amazing offers in which they can give away a number of droid phones for free.

There are lots of websites out there claiming that you can get a droid phone free, but not all of them deliver what they promise. You should stay away those scam sites at all costs. On the other hand there are some legitimate sites with genuine offers on free droid phones. You can find those sites by simply searching around the web or joining into conversations in forums or social networks. So the basic steps will be as follows:

a Find a genuine offer about free droid phones.
a Find reviews on the web about this specific offer.
a Then sign up to the offer with your real contact info.

See what the hype is about. Get the new Motorola(R) Droid(TM) FREE, details apply. Enjoy features like speedy Web browsing, 10,000+ apps, brilliant 3.7" display, and contact sync.

The above steps more or less summarize what you should do to get a droid phone free.

About the author: To make things easier, I will give a link to one of those websites here: Droid Phone Free. Visit this site now and read about droid phone reviews and free droid phone offers.

How do you activate a verizon phone online if you’re going to buy it online? I’m planning to get the env touch this week and will buy it online. My contract did not end yet, but if i buy it online, i want to cancel my old contract (the one right now) and start a new phone for the env touch. Will my old number erase because i want to keep my old number and put that on my env touch.

So yeah, the real question is how do you activate your phone online and cancel your other contract and start a new one without making a new plan?

My phone broke, and I was thinking of buying the iPhone for Verizon online, but from another website (like ebay). How do i get Phone activation with verizon wireless?
Okay, so i have a Voyager currently and i have verizon wireless, but i really wanted to change my phone to a Blackberry Pearl. My contract is up in August but i just can’t wait! So, i was wondering if you can buy a phone online and activate it with Verizon wireless to avoid the fees.

Verizon wireless only carries the Pink and White blackberry pearl, so if i buy a red one will i still be able to activate it with Verizon Wireless?

Activating Blackberry with the data plan after ordering phone online (Verizon user)?
I am a Verizon customer, and I bought a Blackberry curve from their website, and it’s expected to arrive tomorrow afternoon. Anyway, the 29.99 fee for the data plan was listed in my bill after purchasing online, but said “due at end of month”. So, my question is, how do I go about activating the phone and making sure the data plan is also working along with it?

I heard with Verizon owning the Blackberry and using a data plan go hand in hand (in other words, it’s required to have a data plan if you have the phone), so when it is activated, will the data plan already be in effect? Never had one of these, and I’m just wondering what the activation process is like and how I do it.

Give me details please, I’m new to this.

    Thanks!

My new Verizon phone won’t activate? How to change icon settings on Krzr?
I was using a Versa but I bought a Krzr online. I dial *228 and hit option 1 but it says “I’m sorry. We are unable to activate your phone. Please call 800 blah blah blah from a landline phone for customer assistance.” Why is it doing this? I could dial *228 from all of the other phones I’ve activated and now this one won’t work?

Also, on most verizon phones the icons are set so that you can scroll < and > to get to something. I want it to be a grid. I know verizon phones do this because I did it with a friend’s Rzr. How do I get it so that my icons are in a “grid” form?

What to tell Verizon to activate a phone?
Ok so I recently got a new phone, a Palm Pixi Plus. After a hard struggle of trying to activate my new Pixi through just the phones, it didn’t work so I decided to go just into the store. Well I turned off my old phone and I’m hopefully going to the Verizon store in an hour or two. Now my problem is is that my dad has a company-payed for AT&T iPhone 3GS, so he doesn’t know what to tell Verizon to activate this new phone that I have. To tell you the truth I’m not sure I know either, haha. Well I know I need to give the Verizon clerk the primary number (my mom’s), but do you have to give the last four digits of your social security code? I know what that is…my mom’s anyways. But my mom said they asked about a password online? She said she always tells them “Oh I don’t know, i forgot it” because she’s very forgetful. She said they assigned her a new password and all that stuff.
So what exactly do I tell this guy? I’m 13, by the way, so i’m not exactly sure how to do this stuff.
Thanks. 10 points best answer. :)

Or is it only a select few? Do I have to order it online? I’ve never had to order a phone online, and I don’t know how to do it. If I ordered it online, through Verizon, would it be activated already when it arrived? When I want to pay my bill every month, would I just go to Verizon and pay what I need to pay, even if my phone is an LTE phone and is not sold in the area (if it isn’t) ? How do I go about selling a 4G Verizon Wireless phone (upgrade) and getting a simple feature phone?
I am going to do it online. Get the upgrade and 2-year renewal plan. Accept terms and conditions. Call to activate the phone (without opening the box). This will clear the ESN. Reactivate an old feature phone.

What I am confused about is the fact that the 4G phone will probably have a different data plan pricing. I am going from a 3G phone (Blackberry 8830), getting a 4G upgrade(HTC Thunderbolt), and then to a simple feature phone with no data plan.

Please clear things up for me. Thank you.

  33. E says:

Why does my phone work? ( Env3 on verizon, no contract 30 dollars a month)?
Recently I feel as if I have caught Verizon Wireless in a sort of a lie. My phone EnV 3 that I outright bought, (over 200$) works with my plan, being a PrePaid plan. Now- long ago when I called to activate my phone the lady on the other line set me up and said that I was good to go. Everything works great, I have no contract and its usually under thirty dollars a month. I have called Verizon and asked if I could switch either to an env touch I was given, or a new blackberry storm (with my plan now). Of course they said no

but how can this be? I know that there is the whole data plan issue for the blackberry, but the env touch is in the same category as my env 3. Now online there is an ( 9.99 ) data “fee” they make you charge for the “month to month” multi phones – again for my env 3 they never “made” me pay it.

I guess my question is- if I switch my phone to this env touch- will it work? being that my phone is LIVING PROOF that verizon in fact- IS capable of this without issues.

did verizon just “spill the beans” with me I guess? ha?

  34. jojo says:

    how to switch verizon phones?
ok so me and my friend want to trade phones. is it possible to do the whole proccess online? or does it have to be through phone with the customer service. so basically, if it’s possible to do it online, i need a DETAILED procedure on how to switch phones. (both are verizon).

right now, i believe the proccess is this. and correct me if i’m wrong.
1)i walk up to my friend and trade phones on the spot, say at school. so basicaly i have her phone, and am using my friends phone for now. (ie. if someone calls the phone, they will be saying “hi *friends name*)
2)go home, log onto verizon wireless account. while this is happening i am talking to my friend on AIM instant messaging.
    3) both of us go into our own verizon accounts, and both click supsend phone (meaning that we temporarily deactivate our phone).
4)then we click “activate an existing phone”. and then we type in eachother’s MEID or the code of each phone.
5)wait until it’s done loading and proccessing, and then wa la. all good???

so i’m not sure if it’s ok to do that. but thats why im asking YOU.
    thanks for your time!!

Because I don’t think I’ll end up paying less if I terminate my Verizon service now.

Where can I buy cell phones for cheap?
Here is the situation I am in…

My cell phone just recently crapped out on me. It literally DIED. My phone is no longer under warranty, so that is not an option.

My contract with my provider (Verizon) is up in just less than 2 months, and I really don’t want to extend my contract/sign a new agreement, etc… I really like the idea of not being locked into a contract.
Verizon told me I can do that, but I would have to buy a phone at full retail price. (Which is like $300 for the cheapest!) But the really cool customer service guy also told me that they can activate any phone I have for me to use, so he suggested that I could look online and purchase them from a discount site or something.

Where can I look to find these discounted phones?
Also, do you have any good phone recommendations? If so, how much is your reccomendation and where can I get it for that price?

    Thanks in advance!

Call Verizon and go to activations department. They will ask for information, including the ESN# to make sure it’s clear. Check the Verizon website and you’ll find your way there.

  51. fibs99 says:

Instructions will come with the phone on how exactly to do this. Charge the battery, choose a plan (if he hasn’t already) on the website.you can research these anytime.
Turn it on, and dial *229 and press send from anywhere in Verizon’s network.
Or you can always go to a Verizon store as someone mentioned here.

  52. blc1610 says:

Are you already a Verizon customer??? Why not go straight to the source and contact Verizon Customer service? They will help you get set up with a service plan and data plan if you don’t already have these open.

    You can start here: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/index.html

  53. Nathan says:

I’m not sure how an enV3 can work on a pre-paid plan- generally, a phone cant be used for prepaid if it has an HTML browser.. But anyways.. You’re not paying the data plan because you activated it before that requirement went into effect. An enVTouch or BB definitely would not work on prepaid.. If you were to change your plan to post-pay and activate an enVTouch, it would require the data plan

  54. An..... says:

You have to configure your email account in the Blackberry email program, in the same way you would with a program on your computer such as Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird. After you click Tools, followed by clicking Account Settings or New Account, most programs now are auto-setup when you enter your Name, email address, and password. Otherwise you’ll need to go on and enter your Incoming and Outgoing server names and port numbers as well to complete the process.

  55. TTTMMMBBB!! says:

Well, let me try to address everything you are asking. If you purchased a 3G phone (enV Touch VX11000, Samsung Rogue, Samsung Reality, etc) the $9.99 data fee would automatically be applied to the account. If you order a phone online from VerizonWireless.com, you will receive it via FedEx in the mail (about 2 days) and when you get it, it comes with instructions for activation. In order to activate it yourself, you would need information from some of the forms in the box that the phone came in and your account password, etc. Your old phone will no longer have service or a number attached to it meaning it cannot be used to send texts, call people, or internet usage. You can do everything else on the phone though such as calculator, calendar, or notepad.

  56. Saieh says:

I would go for the Voyager. It flips open like and EnV and has a touch screen. The Glide is kinda like a Helio phone to me. You push it up and then the keyboard appears. I would go for the Voyager.

  57. Nathan says:

You can do it online under Activate Phone, or by calling *228 from the phone you want to activate, and then selecting option 1

  58. Bambi says:

When that happened to me I went to the AT&T store and told them what happened. The said I think I can help. Pulled out a sim card. Asked me for my information and put it into their computer. The gave me the phone (activated and ready to go). I said thanks, walked out, and didn’t have to pay anything.

So for the people telling you that you need to go buy a sim card (they are dumb b/c AT&T will give you a sim card if yours gets stollen or if you are having bad service and dropping calls ). Go to the store and try it. Good luck!

  59. ddominic says:

Actually it is the opposite. Verizon Wireless and Sprint uses CDMA network. Each of ther phones have a ESN 12 digit letters and numbers on their back phones that is registered to that phone model to activate the phone.

So if you found a Verizon cell phone, the owner would have to call Verizon Wireless and report the cell phone stolen and deactivate the 12 digit ESN number and the phone that is registered to him or her and the phone would now be useless.

  60. ♡electric rhythm♫ says:

no, because either way, its still verizon youd be signing up with and theyd see that you already have an account with them. most cell phone companies will not consider you a new customer if you just reactivate your account within a certain time period. you can only activate it with verizon if the phone is made to be used with them. for instance, if you got a t-mobile bb pearl, you couldnt use it with verizon because t-mobile phones use sim cards for gsm and verizon uses cdma.

  61. Mandy says:

A new account has to go through a credit check, so you have to either call or go to the store (once you have one active line and can set up a My Verizon account, you can add a new line through the website if you’d ever want). You can activate equipment you already have without a contract, though. Just call the sales department and they’ll help you open the new account with your equipment.

    It’s (800) 256-4646.

  62. SwtLzrdUWGB says:

I used to work for VZW. First, going to the store is a good idea just make sure they have a tech available. If you’re under warranty you should be able to get a replacement through that or see if they have a refurbished phone available. They usually are around $50. I’d also ask when you’re eligible for your upgrade.

Otherwise, if you have an old VZW phone or know someone that has one they should reactivate it on your account for free. You could just take that phone and either go to a store or call VZW and get it activated. It doesn’t take long to do. You may also be able to activate it online thru MyAccount (don’t remember).

If that option won’t work I’d try E-Bay or another online website but make sure you get the ESN number from the buyer so you can call VZW and verify it wasn’t stolen.

As for my recommendations usually the Krzr is a good phone so maybe a new one will work fine. If you like a thin phone but dont’ want the RZR or another KRZR try the Motorola W385. Otherwise, I’d look at an LG or Samsung phone like the LG VX8350…or that Juke. I’ve heard good things about them.

    Good luck!

  63. Angelsfromheaven says:

There is no limit to the number of times you switch phones.

  64. iFreak says:

    Activations free. Good luck:)

Motorola DROID X Android Phone (Verizon Wireless)
A worthy successor to the original Droid, the Android-powered Droid X by Motorola for Verizon Wireless is a pocket-sized home theater with a massive 4.3-inch high-resolution display, HDMI high-definition output with optional cable, and 720p HD video recording capabilities. And the 1 GHz processor provides excellent response for game play, such as the preloaded EA Need for Speed Shift.

When you port your number to another carrier your current provider and phone will not be deactivated until your new phone and account is activated. You can also contact sprint for the particulars in doing online orders.

  67. ANDROID says:

If the phone was used at one point, then the activation should be free. When I activated a used phone before, Verizon never charged me an activation fee

  68. ddominic says:

Yeap you are correct. However you need to port your cell phone number (switch your cell phone number) with T-Mobile before the 15th of January. If you do it on the 15th of January then you owe Verizon for the following month too. I would suggest you switch either on the 12th or 13th of January. You would still owe the bill with Verizon for December 2010 to January 2011.

If you plan to port (move) your cell phone number, make sure you do not go to Verizon Wireless and tell them that you are porting your cell phone number. Let T-Mobile know that you want to port your cell phone number from Verizon to T-Mobile. T-Mobile will automatically cancel and close your account with Verizon.

  69. Justin says:

Depends When you order a phone You could call or go to the store call If you bought a phone from Verizon call them and anysite you got your phone My phone Broke so I activated my old one my mom called Verizon and They tell you to press numbers it will say Activating loading.

  70. ANDROID says:

See the link below on how to activate the phone online:

  71. Jamie W says:

If you have an ipod touch you can turn it into a phone using Truphone. Calls are free to other Truphone users and calls to mobile numbers are 6 cents a minute. You need a free download of Truphone and a microphone headset. Truphone is just for calling. If you have an ipod touch you can text people using your email address by downloading a free app called SMS for Free.

  72. Warren says:

Pay for your own cell phone service.
And if you figure out how to hack into it, pay for all of ours, too!

  73. Suzie says:

To change your phone online log into your account on verizonwireless.com. Then click on the option that says Upgrade my phone. It will then give you the option to upgrade it using your own equipment. You’ll have to put in the ESN, which is underneath the battery on your phone.

  74. GTB says:

The final cost is based upon all legislated taxes and surcharges for your local area. There are local and regional charges that vary from location to location based upon many factors.

You need to contact the carrier for this info – it will be more than the price quoted as the quote does not include the taxes and surcharges.

  75. eternallywaiting says:

On Verizon, you will need the $29.99 data plan with any BB. You can try activating it online but I always got an error when I tried to do it. It is just too complicated for it. Ask them to waive the fee. I work at an indirect Verizon agent and we charge $10 for us to do it. It is a service and it takes our time :)

  76. ANDROID says:

    Hi.

-Log into your verizon account (primary account)
-Under account actions click “activate phone”
    -Go through the process

  77. pickles0926 says:

Do NOT suspend the phone before you trade. If a phone is suspended you will not be able to activate it on another line. All you need to do is switch phones, log into your account online and click on activate phone. It will ask you for the MEID and after you enter it online it will give you the steps for programing the phone. Do this to one phone at a time, if you each try and do it at the same time it might not work..l Leave one phone off while you program the other one and once that is done turn on the other and program it under your friends number.

  78. shanna says:

your best bet is probably buy it online. then bring it into the store. i have verizon also and i cant stand there customer service at all. online for that stuff is just as bad. get the real advice and talk to them face to face.

  79. AVI AHARONI says:

I was in a similar situation before I switched from verizon to virgin mobile. I checked with verizon and they helped me out. they told me that you normally pay a month in advance. Check with Verizon before you do anything. I switched the day before the monthly plan was over and received credit for a whole month.

  80. Carl N says:

The best part of this is that you got the phone taken away by your parent(s) and the account is in their name. Without both phones and account access, it would be funny if you can’t swap numbers.

  81. Joey's Girl says:

u wont be able to see it online u will have to go into the actual store and see what phones they have.

  82. Dfwteddybear says:

When you get the upgrade, you will have to accept a data plan for 2 years that your simple phone will not be able to use.

  83. padsquad43 says:

I’m not a Verizon Wireless customer, but this is what I think should happen.

Your door bell will ring and…YAY! You get your new phone.
You’ll now have to call Verizon WIreless from a phone other than your current phone, or your new phone(your house phone probably). The robot-lady will be like “Thank you for calling Verizon Wireless! How can I help you today?” You’ll say “Phone Acitivation.” It should send you over to the right rep. to help you with the process of switching the service from one phone to the other. It might take a couple of minutes for the changes to take effect, or it may take a full 24 hours.

  84. BitHitter says:

Dial “*228″ and select option 3.

You will be able to activate the phone so long as it is not currently activated.

  85. Marry says:

there is instruction book. you just follow it. quite easy!

  86. Melissa Kultz says:

You don’t have to go into the store to activate your phone. You can just call their customer service, (not from your new phone). Their number is 1-800-922-0204. Follow the instructions, and press 0 to talk to an actual person. Once on the phone, explain to them that you’re having problems activating your new phone, and they’ll just do it for you. It’s simple and easy. :) You have to be authorized on the account to make any changes, so you might need your mother to speak to them, or to authorize your father.

    Good Luck :)

If you decide not to call, and you want to take it into the store, you can do this also. But again, you will need your mother to authorize your father on the account before you go, or you will not be able to make any changes. You will also need to obtain the account password, if your mother set one up. This is usually a 4 digit number (not her social security number). As far as what to say to them, just simply tell them you received your new phone, and you’re having trouble activating it on your own. They’ll just take it and do it for you right there; no problem.

  87. firewarrior says:

you probably wont be able to find the phone till the snow melts and you should be able to bring the old phone to a verizon store and get it activated

  88. Corvato says:

yes, all Verizon stores sell them
and yes, you can use them fine in 3g zones… you can then be ready when/if your area gets upgraded.

  89. hottamalee33 says:

Try letstalk.com or cellphoneshop.net. Ebay has reputable sellers that have new and used cheap Verizon phones.

  90. Annelise says:

alltel customer’s are staying on alltel plans until they decide to upgrade their plans, at which point they will have to change to a verizon nationwide plan. all smartphones do require a data plan, which start at $29.99.

  91. RRR says:

    I like the glide.

If you want to get another phone later, just make sure it is compatible on Verizon, because GSM band phones won’t work on Verizon. Also make sure the ESN has not been blocked. Get the ESN number and check with Verizon to be sure that they will activate it. If the old owner didn’t pay their bill or if the phone has been reported stolen they will not activate it.
